apple launches iphone x: india pricing, availability and other details
after months of speculations, apple's new lineup of iphones is here. the company has launched three new iphones, iphone 8, iphone 8 plus and iphone x. the latter is the company's tenth anniversary of iphone. the company launched the new iphones at an event held in steve jobs theatre in its new 'spaceship' campus.
among the three iphones, iphone x stole the spot light with its bezel-less display and faceid. apple ceo tim cook called iphone x "the biggest leap forward since the original iphone."
in what surely is a good news for iphone fans in india, the all-new iphone x will be launching in india in the first wave itself. in fact, this is the first time that apple is launching its new iphones in india in the first wave.
pre-orders for iphone x will start on october 27 in 55 countries across the world, including india. the smartphone will hit retail shelves on november 3. apple has priced the iphone x, which comes in two storage variants 64gb and 256gb, at rs 89,000 onwards in india. this means that the 64gb variant of iphone x will be priced at rs 89,000 while the 256gb variant is priced at rs 1,02,000.
Coming to Apple iPhone X specifications, the smartphone features a 5.8-inch OLED display. iPhone X is the company's first iPhone to feature OLED display. The screen has 458 ppi, the highest pixel density in an iPhone ever. Apple has termed this Super Retina display.
Courtesy, the edge-to-edge display, iPhone X bids good bye to the key feature of all the iPhones launched so far, Home Button. It also introduces facial recognition-powered FaceID to iPhones. This FaceID replaces the finger-print based TouchIDs that made their debut in iPhones in 2013 with iPhone 5S. Apple claims that FaceID is powered by TrueDepth camera system on the front. This is based on multiple neural networks for real-time face recognition. According to the company, FaceID only unlocks iPhone X when customers look at it and is designed to prevent spoofing by photos or masks. FaceID can also be used to authenticate Apple Pay payments.
Apple iPhone X is powered by the company's latest six-core A11 chipset.
